Janssen returns to Vitesse ranks

Vitesse have finalised the transfer of Theo Janssen from Ajax for a fee believed to be in the region of 600,000 euros.

The Netherlands international has signed a three-year deal with the Arnhem side.

Janssen had long been linked with a return to the GelreDome outfit, and the move has now been confirmed at last after the Dutchman passed his medical on Tuesday morning.

I am very happy that the deal has finally been completed. They tend to say that things you really want always take a while, and that was definitely the case here. I want to be an important player for Vitesse in the next few years, Janssen said.

The 31-year-old midfielder came through the ranks of the Vitesse youth academy, but left the club for Twente in the summer of 2008.

´I know my worth and I will show it´ – Antony vows to silence Man Utd critics

Manchester United winger Antony has pledged to silence his critics after ending his long wait for a Premier League goal on Saturday, saying: I know my worth and I will show it.

Antony has struggled since swapping Ajax for Old Trafford in an £86million ($108m) deal last year, only managing five goals and three assists in 52 Premier League appearances.

The Brazilian failed to net in his first 26 league games this season before ending his goal drought against Burnley on Saturday, though Zeki Amdouni s late penalty earned the Clarets a 1-1 draw.

Antony was also roundly criticised for taunting Coventry City s players in the aftermath of United s FA Cup semi-final win over the Sky Blues earlier this month, with the Red Devils inching through on penalties after surren…

Langerak leaves Dortmund for Stuttgart

Goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak has left Borussia Dortmund to join Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart on a three-year contract.

The Australia international joined Dortmund from Melbourne Victory in 2010, making his debut in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in February of the following year.

Langerak made nine league appearances for the Signal Iduna Park outfit last term and became a regular feature between the posts in the latter stages of Jurgen Klopp s stint as coach.

The six-times capped stopper is the second goalkeeper to arrive at Stuttgart in a matter of days, with Przemyslaw Tyton having joined from PSV last week.

Dortmund, now coached by Thomas Tuchel, brought in Roman Burki from Freiburg earlier this month to compete with Germany goalkeeper Roman Weidenfell…

Rummenigge defends Bayern´s Qatar trip

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has defended the decision by the Bundesliga champions to head to Qatar for a winter training camp.

Rummenigge stressed that Bayern s trip to Doha, set to be a highly controversial venue for the 2022 World Cup, should not be viewed as a political statement.

The country has come under significant criticism over its treatment of migrant workers employed in building the infrastructure necessary to stage the event.

Speaking to Bild, the two-time European Footballer of the Year pointed out Bayern have travelled to Qatar for a training camp every year since 2011.

The Aspire Academy is the best training facility in world football, Rummenigge said.

Doha offers an ideal climate in January and there is virtually no time d…

Man City set Sterling price

Manchester City have set the price for the services of Raheem Sterling at €80 million amid interest from Barcelona, according to .

Sterling s contract at the Etihad expires at the end of the 2022-23 season, which means it will enter its final 12 months next summer unless a new one is agreed and signed by then.

As things stand at the moment, an extension is unlikely to happen. The 26-year-old is currently out of favour with manager Pep Guardiola, who prefers to name Jack Grealish and Phil Foden in the starting lineup ahead of the former Liverpool winger.

Barcelona are in a difficult financial situation, and even if there without the effects of the ongoing pandemic taken into account, they would still find it difficult to pay that kind of money for a single play…
